About the Put God First Ministry

Perhaps the best way to explain why we should Put God First is to quote from my book of the same name…
We now seem to be passing through a most extraordinary and dangerous time in our nation’s history. It’s a time when profligate consumption – more media, more food, more sex, more money, more credit, more debt, more licit and illicit drugs of all kinds, more of just about everything except time – all but destroys any sense of propriety and proportion, estranges us from God, and threatens the quality of our lives and communities at every level of society, irrespective of race, gender, or social status.
It’s a time I call the Great Age of Excess…
The Great Age of Excess is an extreme place by definition, a place where obsessive-compulsive behavior and addiction are the rules, not the exceptions. In the Great Age of Excess, our day-to-day behavior is characterized most notably by an irrefutable addiction to all things media. We are — by any reasonable definition or criteria – obsessed with and addicted to the media, both as individuals and as a culture. How we navigate the confluence of media, addiction, and God in the Great Age of Excess is the single most defining and compelling issue of our time.
The Put God First Ministry is dedicated to the exploration of how our default addiction to media in the Great Age of Excess threatens and imperils the quality of our lives and communities, and — more important still — what we can do about it. Herein you’ll find more information about my book and workshops, all designed to help you put God first in your life. The Put God First Ministry is nothing less than a fervant call to action that begins with a faith-based return to reason. When we put God first in the Great Age of Excess, we reintroduce Him to the world as a champion of moderation and quality.
